Left With Pictures
Left With Pictures are from London. They started with three hard-up, classically trained musicians – Stuart Barter, Rob Wicks and Toby Knowles – who forsook the orchestra pit for the sanctuary of Toby’s parents’ loft. Armed with melodicas, guitars, violins, kazoos, ‘found sounds’ and a shoestring budget, they began with two self released EPs – 2005’s ‘EP’ and ‘Making Chalk’ from 2006.
In 2008 LWP signed to Organ Grinder Records – and released an EP entitled “Secretly” which gained them rave reviews as well as a slew of radio play. They have since released two albums, Beyond Our Means (2009) and In Time (2011), to critical acclaim. Over time the band have grown into a 5-piece, and honed their live set with appearances alongside the likes of Peggy Sue, Sleeping States, The Leisure Society and Johnny Flynn, winning admiration from fellow musicians along the way.
The band recorded a new studio album entitled Afterlife with producer Richard Formby (Wild Beasts / Ghostpoet) It was released 29 April 2016 to wide critical acclaim.
